DNC Hacker Emailed Dem Voter Turnouts To GOP Consultant

The Wall Street Journal's report presents the clearest allegations to date of collusion between people connected to Donald Trump's campaign and Russian Federation.

The Journal reported on Thursday that "Guccifer 2.0" - a pseudonymous hacker that, according to the Department of Homeland Security and Director of National Intelligence, is a front for Russian intelligence - provided a Florida political consultant with documents swiped from the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee.

Russian Federation through the "Guccifer 2.0" persona is also believed by USA intelligence agencies to be responsible for several major hacks that played a prominent role in last year's presidential campaign, including the hack of the Democratic National Committee and of Hillary Clinton campaign chair John Podesta.

Hacker Guccifer 2.0 reportedly shared vital Democratic information on specific Florida districts.

Learning that hacker "Guccifer 2.0" had tapped into a Democratic committee that helps House candidates, Mr. Nevins wrote to the hacker to say: "Feel free to send any Florida based information". The trove of documents contained sensitive voter targeting information such as data-based assessments of individual voters, including such information as each voter's expected reliability to vote Democratic or Republican, or if he or she is on the fence and can be persuaded. "Basically, if this was a war, this is the map to where all the troops are deployed", Nevins told the person or persons behind the Guccifer 2.0 account via Twitter.

Guccifer 2.0 sent a link to the blog post soon afterwards to Republican operative Roger Stone, a longtime confidante and associate of then-candidate Donald TrumpDonald TrumpCongress's good intentions may be taking us down a risky road The proposed budget could end wasteful VA research Hasan Minhaj: People think WH correspondents dinner "just King Joffrey's goons" MORE.

"I just threw an arrow in the dark", Nevins told The WSJ, which was the first to identify the consultant. The Journal also reviewed copies of exchanges between the hacker and Mr. Nevins.

Nevins set up a Dropbox to allow Guccifer 2.0 to share 2.5 gigabytes of stolen DCCC documents, according to the Journal. "If your interests align", the operative concluded, "never shut any doors in politics".

Republicans ignored Democrats' pleas not to use the hacked material for political gain. He reached out to the hacker known as Guccifer 2.0 and asked him to send incriminating DNC documents he had in his possession.

For his part, Trump has repeatedly denied any coordination with Russian officials. Some believe Guccifer 2.0 has ties to Russian military intelligence.
