Brush fire on Los Angeles hillside sparked by weed whacker

Mandatory and voluntary evacuation orders are in effect, and Yavapai County Sheriff's deputies say there are no new evacuations expected as fire crews work to get control. Fire crews have been working throughout the night to contain the fire now estimated at 15 acres.

Many Hollywood players have made Mandeville Canyon their home including Lachlan Murdoch, Gwyneth Paltrow, Ari Emanuel and Dr. Dre who bought Tom Brady and Gisele Bundchen's 4-acre property (part of Brentwood Country Estates) for $40 million.

The Daisy Mountain Fire Department responded to the blaze around 5:30 p.m. after it sparked off of Terrace Springs Road just east of Black Canyon City. The fire scorched several acres of dry brush.

"While the fire did burn within 200 feet of structures, firefighters performing structural defense prevented any further threat and no homes are now at risk", the LAFD wrote in a statement.
