Trump tells of 'plan to leave'

The G7 summit in Italy showed that under US President Donald Trump, the US policies regarding climate change have changed.

The two-day G7 summit meeting was held in the seaside town of Taormina, Sicily May 26-27 "to address in a spirit of cooperation the global challenges we face today and to respond collectively to the greatest concerns of our citizens".

"Many NATO countries have agreed to step up payments considerably, as they should", he tweeted later. To address members' dissapointment, US national security adviser H.R. McMaster said Saturday that "of course" the president supports Article 5, in which members regard "an armed attack against one or more of them in Europe or North America" as "an attack against them all".

"It was a tremendously productive meeting where I strengthen American bonds", Mr Trump said. "I hope they decide in the right way".

"They would see withdrawal as a slap in the face, disrespecting their fundamental interests and, in turn, eroding the United States' diplomatic capital", Stern wrote in The Washington Post earlier in May of other countries' reactions to a US withdrawal from Paris.

Although he tweeted that he would make a decision next week, his apparent reluctance to embrace the first legally binding global climate deal that was signed by 195 countries clearly annoyed German Chancellor Angela Merkel. Trump's promise of warmer ties with Moscow had called into question the USA commitment to the sanctions previously imposed on Russian Federation. His top economic and national security advisers refused to answer questions during a press briefing Saturday. At the G-7, it was Trump's interactions with other leaders that commanded attention.

They restored a vow to fight protectionism, the use of import taxes and skewed regulations that favor domestic producers over their foreign competitors. The leaks, including some that have brought the Russian Federation outreach charges to within sniffing distance of Trump, has led the White House to be in a perpetual firefighting mode, detracting the new administration from governance. "The United States, however, is undergoing a review process".

Putting a positive spin on it Emmanuel Macron said he was sure Trump, who he praised as "pragmatist", would back the deal having listened to his G7 counterparts. Trudeau, along with Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe, arguably has the best relationship with the president.

They also agreed to step up pressure on North Korea, to forge closer cooperation in the fight against terrorism, on the possibility of imposing more sanctions on Russian Federation over its role in the conflict in Ukraine. "But he stands in stark isolation", said Alden Meyer, director of strategy and policy at the Union of Concerned Scientists. But now there is a new story out, and whether it is true or not is uncertain and I feel that putting it in a headline would be wrong, but one website is saying that they were told by White House "confidants" of the president that he is indeed planning to pull the US out of the Paris climate agreement, reports The Hill.
