Facebook Inc (FB) Unveils "Watch" Feature Dedicated to Video Viewing
11 August 2017, 04:59 | Cameron Gross
'People Are Awesome' Adds 1.4 Million Facebook Fans Following Viral Round-Up Video
That's why Facebook launched its Video tab in the USA, offering a predictable place for people to find and watch videos on the platform. Watch can give a tough fight to platforms like YouTube, Netflix, Amazon Prime Videos and even the regular TV shows.
As a matter of fact, one won't be coming across any specific content restrictions. The standards set are reasonable and Facebook has assured all its users that it will be looking out for all those shows that get flagged.
You'll find sections like "Most Talked About", which highlights shows that spark conversation, "What's Making People Laugh", which includes shows where many people have used the "Haha" reaction, and "What Friends Are Watching", which helps you connect with friends about shows they too are following. They will also be able to comment in real time, and a tab will show what their friends are watching. Although a lot of shows that are made up of episodes - live or recorded - will follow a theme or storyline, Facebook doesn't provide much information in that regard just yet.
Getting people to see Facebook as a video service is like Walmart trying to sell high fashion, or McDonald's peddling high-end food, said Joel Espelien, senior analyst with The Diffusion Group, a video research firm. If you are anxious about missing episodes, Watch also features a Watchlist, so you will never miss out on new ones.
The company already has a Video tab in the app, only for the users in US and now the it has introduced a redesigned video tab to change the way we watch videos on social network. "Watching a show doesn't have to be passive ..."
He said some of the content would be made by "professional creators" and others by "regular people in our community". For example, Returning the Favour is a series hosted by Mike Rowe where he finds people doing something extraordinary for their community, tells the world about it, and in turn does something extraordinary for them. There are a few more interesting options, like a NASA science show, and a live National Geographic safari program.
Watch is a great platform to increase theinterest of all users and creators to find an audience, build communication, and earn money for their business.
Facebook will initially make the platform available on its desktop and app versions to a "limited group of people" in the United States, before rolling it out globally.
Watch will available to select users initially in U.S. and will be rolled out to all (only in US) in coming few weeks.

Sad, because Jaya and Keshav are the sort of people who are worthy of a film sans socially reprehensible formulae. Look at his filmography of late; all his films are not only different in genres, but also in style and treatment.
