Now on 11th August his Toilet - Ek Prem Katha has opened on similar lines, what with 13.10 crores coming on.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi's Swachh Bharat Abhiyan forms the basic premise of "Toilet: Ek Prem Katha" but Akshay says he did not do the film exclusively on the merit of the script.

Akshay Kumar starrer "Toilet: Ek Prem Katha" got a decent start at the box office.

Toilet-Ek Prem Katha has collected Rs 13.10 crore at the Indian box office on its opening day. "He also said that the weekend collections of the film will be 'better" and on Tuesday, Independence Day, the business will get a 'boost'.

The collections would grow further on Saturday and Sunday if the multiplex audience shows full support.While critic reviews are mixed, the audience word of mouth as yet seems to be on the positive side. With the huge failure of Tubelight and Jab Harry Met Sejal, all eyes were on Toilet: Ek Prem Katha.




Akshay Kumar's last few releases were also in the same range on the first day of the release. But, it seems like Akshay Kumar's "Toilet Ek Prem Katha" is set to break the curse and emerge as a blockbuster.

Directed by Shree Narayan Singh the movie deals with the need for sanitation in India and is based on Prime Minister Narendra Modi's Swachh Bharat (Clean India) campaign.

SRK and Anushka Sharma starrer romantic celluloid grossed Rs 59 crore total box office collection in 7 days.

Toilet: Ek Prem Katha is a story of a newly married couple, where the wife, disgusted by the open-defecation culture, lashes out and runs away from her husband's house.
