CPSC Safety Guidance for Fidget Spinners

Safety Regulators Issue Safety Alert For Still-Popular Fidget Spinners

"Fidget spinners can be fun to use but consumers and companies should be aware of some of the safety concerns associated with this product", CPSC acting chairman Ann Marie Buerkle said in a statement.

The U.S. governmental organization wants fidget spinners to have to conform to the U.S. Toy Standard ASTM F963-16.

CPSC advised that fidget spinners shouldn't be left unattended while charging, and should never be plugged in overnight.

As we've previously reported, fidget spinners have evolved from their modest designs with mechanical parts to include internal batteries that power bluetooth speakers, lights, and other features. This decision took place after reports of some incidents with battery-operated spinners which caught fire. In one case, a child reported their Bluetooth fidget spinner having caught fire and exploding after charging for about 40 minutes.

In addition, parents are given the generic warning to keep the toy from young kids who may choke on the small components released in the event that the toy breaks.

The fidget spinner has a safety guidance which was released by a USA government body.

"The fidget spinner was on fire on my counter", she said.
Also to avoid choking incidents, children should not put the fidget spinners in their mouths. I'm not exaggerating: One of the CPSC's safety tips is to check that you have working smoke detectors if you have fidget spinners with batteries in your house. As part of the design process it's important to make sure that all of the safety elements have been considered, and this extends to understanding how consumers will end up using the product. It added that they should only be charged using the cable they came with, or a cable with the "correct connections for charging".
