No. 12 LSU Is Getting Blown Out By Mississippi State

Mississippi State welcomes LSU to Starkville, Miss., on Saturday for the first SEC game of the year for each team.

Two times in the first half, LSU had touchdowns called back due to penalties. In all, LSU was penalized nine times for 112 yards.

Mississippi State outgained LSU on offense 467 yards to just 270 yards led by quarterback Nick Fitzgerald who had 268 yards from scrimmage.

Fitzgerald was 15-of-23 passing for 180 yards.

College GameDay analyst Lee Corso said earlier in the week that his big "upset" pick for this Saturday was Mississippi State over LSU. Quarterback Danny Etling is 22-for-31 for 398 yards in the two games while running backs Derrius Guice and Darrel Williams have combined for 354 yards and seven touchdown. I covered him a good bit at West Point High School and saw him seem to get stronger the more carries he got as the game went on.

After Clemson forced a three-and-out to open the game, Bryant moved the Tigers 79 yards in 10 plays, taking care of the last eight himself to stake Clemson to a 7-0 lead.

The 6-foot-6 Key came into the game at about 265 pounds, according to LSU coach Ed Orgeron, and rotated with freshman K'Lavon Chaisson.

Mississippi State has also doubled up on yardage against the Tigers - 361-170.
