Kaepernick has remained unsigned, leading to plenty of discussion regarding whether his decision to protest during the national anthem last season has played a role.

Just two weeks after celebrating Beyoncé at Made in America, JAY-Z took the opportunity to honor Colin Kaepernick during his headlining set at the Meadows Music and Arts Festival in Queens, New York on Friday (Sept. 15).

"I want to dedicate this to Dick Gregory". I say this because the NFL Players Association named free agent QB Colin Kaepernick the victor of its Community MVP award for Week 1.

That perhaps is why Jay-Z chose to mention Kaepernick alongside Gregory. "Now is the time to recognize that through our voices we really can effect change", Shawn "Jay-Z" Carter wrote. Jay-Z said he wanted to transform the show into rock "n" roll territory when he played his collaborations with Linkin Park, even paying tribute to the band's lead singer Chester Bennington, who hanged himself in July.

"I sure hope so", Brady said according to Mike Florio of Pro Football Talk. He also dove into his extensive catalog for tracks like "Niggas in Paris", (minus Kanye West) "Big Pimpin" and "Empire State of Mind".

During his set, Hov also brought out reggae icon Damian Marley, who performed their collaborative 4:44 cut, "Bam".

"If anybody got a dream, you chase that (dream) with everything you got", he said at one point.

"How am I going to sign your (stuff) without a pen?"
