Four US tourists attacked with acid outside train station in France

BREAKING: Four tourists have 'acid thrown in their faces' outside train station

Four American women were attacked with acid outside a French train station today.

A 41-year-old woman was arrested in connection with the attack in the port city in southern France, the AP reported.

One has a possible eye injury, according to the prosecutor's office.

All four of the tourists are in their 20s.

Two of them - aged 20 and 21- were reportedly hit in the face and rushed to hospital with burns, while the attacker was arrested by police. It is not known where where in the USA they are from.

She added that officials could not be completely certain that there were no terror links at such an early stage of the investigation.

An embassy spokesman said Sunday that the US consulate in the southern port city of Marseille is communicating with French officials about the attack at Marseille's main train station.

In April, French police say they thwarted an imminent "terror attack" and arrested two suspected radicals in Marseille just days before the first round of France's presidential election.
