Boy Scouts of America Approves Admitting Girls

Cub Scout dens will each remain single-gender, either all-girls or all-boys.
The decision came after years of receiving requests from families and girls and BSA's Chief Executive Michael Surbaugh said that it was "critical" for BSA's programs to evolve. Cub Scout dens will be single-gender - all boys or all girls. Girls were already allowed to take part in four programs sponsored by the organization but were not allowed to attain the rank of Eagle. "The values of Scouting - trustworthy, loyal, helpful, kind, fearless and reverent, for example - are important for both young men and women", Michael Surbaugh, the group's chief executive, said in a statement.
The Boy Scouts top managerial staff, which affirmed the arrangement consistently in a meeting at BSA home office in Texas, said the change was expected to give more alternatives to guardians.
The program for more established young ladies is relied upon to begin in 2019 and will empower young ladies to acquire the pined for rank of Eagle Scout. "We strive to bring what our organization does best - developing character and leadership for young people - to as many families and youth as possible as we help shape the next generation of leaders".
Boy Scouts of America also announced a plan for older girls that will use the same curriculum used by the Boy Scouts and will allow for girls to earn the rank of Eagle Scout.
The announcement follows many months of outreach by the BSA, which distributed videos and held meetings with the Boy Scout community to discuss the possibility of expanding girls' participation beyond existing programs, such as Venturing and Sea Scouts. Over the years, the BSA has opened its doors to openly gay scouts (2013), then openly gay scout leaders (2015), then transgender boys (2017), and now girls.
GSUSA president Kathy Hopinkah Hannan in an email obtained by Buzzfeed News suggests the Boy Scouts have been attempting to bolster its own membership by reaching out to Girls Scout recruits.
"This decision is true to the BSA's mission and core values outlined in the Scout Oath and Law". The Washington Postreported the Boy and Girl Scouts have lost around a million members each in the last decade.
GSUSA reported almost 1.6 million youth members as of March, down from just over 2 million youth members in 2014.
Amazon is now going after teens
Amazon says the service is for 13 to 17-year-olds, but Carr told the WSJ they're open to kids of all ages using the service. If parents want to give their teen more autonomy, they can skip the approval step altogether and just set spending limits.
Erdogan holds talks in Serbia as Turkey hikes Balkan clout
Washington has dismissed claims it was involved as a ludicrous conspiracy theory and Gulen himself denies any link to the plot. Turkey considers the Gulen network as a "terrorist organization" and suspects linked to it will face severe terrorism charges.
There's only a few days left to spend your old pound coins
Barry Williams, the discount store chain's trading director, said it was a "no brainer" to continue to accept the old coins. That's despite the supermarket giant announcing it has not modified all their shopping trolleys to accept the new tender.
