Colin Kaepernick to stand for national anthem upon NFL return
The former NFL quarterback pioneered protests during the US National Anthem a year ago when he took a knee during the anthem over what he said was social and racial injustice. He wrote that he didn't actually talk to Kaepernick about anthem scenarios, and that he was instead referring to older reports that had not been refuted before this weekend.
Kaepernick has remained un-signed since last season, leading many to believe his controversial national-anthem protest, which has since been carried out throughout the NFL, has led teams to stay away from signing him.
Kaepernick has said he would not kneel for the anthem if he signs with a team.
While Kaepernick has not commented directly on La Canfora's report, a tweet was more than telling.
The reversal came after anchor James Brown asked La Canfora on "The NFL Today": "And kneeling, he said?" He's gonna donate all his jersey sales. In March, sources claimed Kaepernick would be willing to stop kneeling for the upcoming football season.
However, after reports exploded quoting the CBS account, La Canfora took to Twitter to reveal that he had not spoken to Kaepernick about the question.
"Colin would have to address any future demonstrations", La Canfora tweeted.
Kaepernick, making use of a quote that may or may not have originally been coined by Winston Churchill, said: "A lie gets halfway around the world before the truth has a chance to get its trousers on".

Kaepernick said at the time that he was protesting the treatment of black Americans, particularly by the police.
Kaepernick also retweeted several messages that called reports that he would stand for the anthem "completely false", along with others that said he has not discussed the issue.
