Ms. Patillo's breast cancer was detected after experiencing pain and insisting that physicians complete further tests to discover the root cause of pain. A portion of the proceeds will go to the Florida Breast Cancer Foundation. There is now no known cure for breast cancer, so early diagnosis is critical.

They believe it could help to reduce the number of women required to undergo a mastectomy by around a third.

The Single Nucleotide Polymorphism (SNP) test will initially be available for patients having tests at St Mary's Hospital and Wythenshawe Hospital in Manchester for BRCA1 and 2 gene mutations, with a family history of breast cancer. Every year around 4,600 women will be diagnosed with breast cancer and nearly 1,000 people will die of it.

"As one of the largest and most impactful breast cancer meetings in the world, we are excited for this new educational opportunity for our loyal attendees".

BRCA has been nicknamed the "Angelina Jolie gene" after the actress publicly revealed that she had undergone a mastectomy after learning that she was at 87% risk of developing breast cancer. "It doesn't mean that every woman who learns of these study findings is going to choose not to have a bilateral mastectomy, but it is important to make sure that those who do choose that treatment course are fully informed".

Many people believe clinical trials are used as a last resort for a person suffering not only from breast cancer but any cancer.

"Women who are on hormone replacement have a slightly increased risk of breast cancer", said Dr. Qalbani.

More than 15,000 people will be at Washington Park to spread messages of hope and victory of cancer.
