Tamagotchis are coming back but not everyone can get one

To celebrate the 20th anniversary of the small egg-shaped digital pet the Tamagotchi will be released in the United States for $15 (~R203) but there's no word yet on whether the toy will be released in other parts of the world.
Bandaisaid the new mini Tamagotchi devices would be sold individually from US$14.99 (S$20) each, and would have six shell designs, with six characters each.
Whether you kept yours alive for two days, or if you were that kid who looked after it like a mother would a child, they commanded our attention for a large part of our youth.
The new, smaller Tamagotchi offers a simpler experience meant to play into the nurturing loop the device is known for, with only three buttons included.
The 20th anniversary Tamagotchi Virtual Pet will start shipping and be available in stores from November 5th, 2017 onwards, but unfortunately rather than enhancements the latest version has fewer features than its predecessor. The packaging design is the same as the original.
"For many Generation X kids, the Tamagotchi device can be considered America's first and favorite digital pet", says Tara Badie, marketing director for Bandai America.

This isn't the first time Bandai has revived the toy.
The toy is 60 percent smaller than the original Tamagotchi but aside from that not much has changed. All six have the classic pixelated LCD display - an especially tiny one - and present a little creature that needs to be taken care of to prevent death. Meanwhile, the company released a Tamagotchi app for the Apple Watch in 2015.
