Evans Family Accident Expense Fund by Natalie Mortensen - YouCaring

Katie Evans 37 from Santa Clarita California was killed on Friday night on her way home from visiting her premature twin babies Hannah and Sarah, in the NICU in a suspected DUI crash

She was returning home from visiting her twin daughters, Hannah and Sarah, who were not even 8 weeks old yet, the page stated.

Katie's husband Jacob told the station that they had been married for 15 years and that he had people over when he broke the news to his children that their mother was gone.

"Jacob called us during the night and said, 'I'm really anxious my wife never made it home from the hospital last night, ' " Caralee says. "I guess he had been up all night".

He had reportedly expected her to return home soon after midnight, but there was no sign of her. Caralee added that it wasn't unusual for her to return home late from the hospital, but when she didn't return by midnight he was anxious and an hour later started calling around in an effort to get hold of her.

The driver hit a curb and sideswiped another vehicle before crashing into Evans, the Santa Clarita Valley Signal reported.

"(The suspected drunk driver) sideswiped one auto and then hit the other one head on", Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff's Station Sgt. Dan Dantice told the Signal.

Dantrice said alcohol containers were found in the vehicle.

Evans was pronounced dead at the scene. It was pretty mangled'.

Kate Evans is seen with her twins in a photo posted to a YouCaring page.

Prior to her death, Evans spoke out online against the Trump administration's health care bill, which she said could have dire effects on her eldest son and twin girls.

A YouCaring page was posted over the weekend to raise funds for Jacob to care for the children. "And don't get me wrong, this new healthcare bill proposed by the Senate is awful and scary for him".

A fundraising page set up for Katie Evans' husband and six kids after the Friday night crash has raised more than $200,000.

"Jacob and family are incredibly grateful for the tremendous outpouring of support and love", the post said.

The update continued that the twins "are doing surprisingly well", and are expected to go home in 4 to 6 weeks.

Evans' sister-in-law, Caralee, told People Magazine, "She was traveling home late at night after visiting her baby girls at the hospital ... and she was hit".
