Smoke advisory from wildfires extended another day in Bay Area

Lighter winds in the valley bring less smoke, moderate air quality
The Bay Area's seven major professional sports organizations have untied to donate a combined $450,000 to the North Bay fire relief efforts, according to a press release.
The five highest readings on the Environmental Protection Agency's Air Quality Index in its 5 a.m. update on Thursday were in the Bay Area.
San Francisco officials said that hospitals have already started receiving patients for respiratory issues that are likely related to the smoke from the wildfires, San Francisco Chronicle reported.
A smoke health advisory for the Bay Area was issued for the second day in a row Tuesday as multiple North Bay wildfires continue to billow tons of soot into the air. Outside of the active fire areas, air quality will be variable and unpredictable. Other suggestions include staying indoors with windows and doors closed as much as possible and shutting off fans that bring smokey outdoor air inside.
The advisory also cautioned the Bay Area residents, especially in the Napa and Sonoma counties, to protect their health.
Because of the serious air quality conditions we are asking residents to avoid adding additional air pollution activities such as wood burning, lawn mowing, leaf blowing, driving, and barbecuing.
The following spots in San Francisco will provide you with filtered air.
Children, the elderly and people with respiratory conditions are the most susceptible to the pollution and should take extra precautions, air district officials said. Anyone exposed to poor air quality or wildfire smoke should move inside to an air-conditioned environment.
