Cold OmahaVikingsVikings Features Aaron Rodgers Has Dominated Division Opponents By Sam Ekstrom- Oc
The 56-year-old Packers-Vikings rivalry is one of the more spirited ones in the National Football League due in part to the geographic proximity of both markets. The over/under total for the contest is listed at 46.5 points.
In a matter of two plays, Green Bay was already across midfield and looking to strike for the game-winner. And this Sunday in the Twin Cities, the Packers have a very big challenge ahead in the Minnesota Vikings. The Vikings are surrendering only 80 rushing yards a game (7th in NFL), combine that with the Packers' bad line, and a rookie running back in Aaron Jones, and you get no help for Aaron Rodgers on Sunday. Offensive touchdowns came on both teams' opening possessions. This one is going to be a one-score game, but the Packers should do enough against the Vikings elite defense to pull out the victory.
Aaron Rodgers had more magic in store for the Dallas Cowboys, who can't seem to find the mojo that carried them a year ago. Even if Montgomery returns Sunday, Jones is the favorite for carries.
Although the Packers' offense has overcome the odds of constantly playing with a decimated offensive line to this point, stopping the Vikings' collection of pass rushers may be their most onerous assignment to date.
Minnesota is coming off a 20-17 win at Chicago on Monday. They are 2-1 with the over.
When you add it all up, Minnesota's defense isn't great against the pass.
Going into this season, the Vikings had high hopes for quarterbackSam Bradford. He would complete 33 of his 50 pass attempts for 343 yards and two touchdowns, but he was picked off once, sacked three times, and one of those quarterback traps resulted in a fumble that was returned for a touchdown.
Dak Prescott, who had touchdown passes on Dallas' first three drives, put the Cowboys in front on an 11-yard touchdown run with 1:13 remaining to cap a 17-play drive that lasted nearly nine minutes.
The Vikings' defensive is led by Everson Griffen, who has 6.0 of Minnesota's 9.0 sacks this season. The Minnesota Vikings look to be employing two starting quarterbacks this week alone - and a third might be on the way. Instead, things went south when a pass went right through receiver Terrance Williams' hands and into the arms of Packers' cornerback Damarious Randall who proceeded to take the interception into the end zone along with taking the lead for Green Bay. Green Bay's defense has been improved this season and the Packers should be able to limit the damage a backup QB and backup RB do to them.
