Rose McGowan's Twitter Account Suspended As She Renews Attacks on Hollywood

Rose McGowan's 'Twitter Suspended' Amid Harvey Weinstein Sexual Assault Allegations

Twitter Suspends Rose McGowan's Account

During the suspension she is reportedly unable to send a tweet or a retweet, but her account is now visible.

In response to McGowan, a representative for Weinstein told Entertainment Weekly: "Any allegations of non-consensual sex are unequivocally denied by Mr. Weinstein".

"Over and over I said it", she continued.

It added: We are reviewing our options for the projects we have with The Weinstein Co.

McGowan's Twitter account has been "temporarily locked", not suspended, according to a person familiar with the matter. On Thursday, shortly after McGowan's tweets posted, The Hollywood Reporter published an interview with Isa Hackett, daughter of author Philip K. Dick and executive producer of Amazon series Man in the High Castle, with allegations that Price propositioned her at San Diego Comic-Con in 2015. But she has been outspoken in the social media conversation around Harvey Weinstein and his multiple alleged assaults on women over decades.

In the meantime, Twitter is on the back foot given both the extent of the allegations against Weinstein and the fierce reaction it has provoked in both Hollywood and around the world.

McGowan spoke a year ago about being raped by an unnamed studio head, but did not name Weinstein.

Last week, the New York Times reported why. That settlement included provisions about speaking about the case in the future. He recounted McGowan's plea to exclude her in the story - without naming her - as an example of the legal pressure that Weinstein's accusers sometimes endure.

Many have called Twitter's harassment rules and enforcement arbitrary because they allow President Trump to blast senators with taunts like "Liddle Corker" or call Mika Brzezinski "Low I.Q. Crazy Mika".

Since Weinstein was named and shamed, the "Scream" actress has been vocal on Twitter, praising other women for coming forward and exposing those who she believes could have done more to highlight the shamed movie boss's behaviour. McGowan was briefly blocked from the platform on Thursday. Twitter has since told The Guardian the suspension was due to McGowan tweeting a private phone number, which is against Twitter's terms of service.
