Londoners can still hail an Uber, after appeal documents have been filed.
An Uber spokeswoman said that today's filing in the Westminster Magistrates' Court is more a formal notification that the appeal is underway and that the company may never appear in court if a settlement is reached. "We are determined to make things right". A petition launched by Uber to protest TfL's decision has gathered more than 800,000 signatures. The talks were described by Uber as "constructive", with TfL focusing the discussion around what they thought was best for the taxi market across London.
Previous to this, Khosrowshahi penned an open letter to London in the Evening Standard apologising for the mistakes that lead to Uber having its licence yanked.
Mayor Sadiq Khan support TfL's decision and said: "All companies in London must play by the rules, if you do play by the rules, you're welcome in London". Uber plans to put forward further reasons for its appeal before a planned hearing on December 11.
Uber will challenge the licence decision "with the knowledge that we must also change", he said.
