Former welterweight champion Robbie Lawler will look to cement his place atop the contender's list when he faces Rafael dos Anjos in the main event at FOX UFC Fight Night in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada on December 16. Standing in his way is another former world champion looking to cement his own place at the top of the division. The event's main card, including the Lawler vs. dos Anjos headliner, airs live on FOX following prelims on FS1 and UFC Fight Pass. The event will take place on December 16 at Bell MTS Place in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada.
Lawler, meanwhile, is coming off a decision win over Donald Cerrone in July. This news was announced by the UFC on Thursday morning. That fight marked the first time "Ruthless" has fought since July, 2016, when his reign as welterweight champ was ended by a Woodley right hand. In his next most recent outing, he defeated former Strikeforce champion Tarec Saffiedine by decision.
Lawler, who is now ranked as the number one contender for the title, has a 28-11 record with one no contest.
Canada will be well represented on the card, with Ultimate Fighter Nations victor Chad Laprise taking on Galore Bofando in a welterweight bout.
Along with this massive booking, two other exciting UFC on Fox 26 fights have also been announced: one pairing Galore Bofando with Chad Laprise, and another pitting Nordine Taleb against Sultan Aliev. Now operating out of Henri Hooft's Combat Club, Lawler has won six of his past seven bouts, a knockout loss to Tyron Woodley his only misstep.
