WABCPolice investigate a crime scene where an elderly couple was robbed on Wednesday

Ninety-one-year-old Waldiman Thompson died after being tied up along with his 100-year-old wife, Ethline.

On Wednesday, the group of emotionless burglars broke into the three-story home of an elderly couple on Decatur St. near Marcus Garvey Blvd.

"Oh my god, Waldiman Thompson he doesn't deserve to die like this and this brutality that they did to him, it's bad", said the victim's niece, Karlene Grose, who last saw her uncle at a family gathering over the weekend. "The manner of death is a homicide".

The suspects were also caught on surveillance footage by a nearby bodega. "They are good people. He was like a father to me", Karlene Grose, Waldiman Thompson's niece, told WABC Wednesday. "And now they took him".

Ethlin Brumley Thompson was taken to the same hospital for injuries to her legs and for observation. She returned home briefly Thursday night, escorted by police officers, to collect some belongings before heading to an undisclosed location.

No arrests have been made yet and the investigation is ongoing.

The Thompsons were married for 30 years, the News said.

Her great-niece said she is a woman of faith.

"She's still in total denial about her husband", a police source said.

Residents say the couple have lived in the building for years and were always seen walking together in the neighborhood.

"They were like a grandmother and grandfather to me", he said. Investigators remained on the scene Thursday.

"There was no forced entry and the only other person who had a key was him", a high-ranking police source said. "They'd ask who it is first, and then open", tenant Anil Lopez said. The vague details led some to believe the well-known couple may have been targeted in the gentrified section of Bed-Stuy. "But it wasn't a gunshot", the neighbor said.

Investigators have collected very clear videos of the suspects near where the home invasion occurred and are confident that an arrests are imminent, police sources said.
