Rose Mc Gowan attends New York Academy Of Art's Tribeca Ball 2016
"On Feb. 1, 2017, the Metropolitan Washington Airports Authority Police Department obtained an arrest warrant for Rose McGowan, an actress from Encino, California, for possession of a controlled substance", the statement read.
Rose McGowan was released from custody Tuesday after turning herself in for a drug possession charge.
"Ms. McGowan appeared in Loudoun County, Virginia, on November 14, 2017, to accept service of the Airports Authority Police arrest warrant, and she was released on a $5,000 unsecured bond", officials said, according to The Blast. She confirmed to The Hollywood Reporter that she was referring to disgraced media mogul Harvey Weinstein. On Twitter, McGowan has amassed supporters and urged them to call out harassment using the #RoseArmy hashtag.
The Planet Terror and Scream star previously suggested the warrant was an attempt to "silence" her after she became one of dozens of women to publicly accuse Weinstein of sexual harassment or assault. However, that incident was not reported in the New York Times exposé.
After apparently learning about the charge last month, McGowan, whose name has hit the headlines with the onslaught on Weinstein coverage, tweeted: "Are they trying to silence me?" There is a warrant out for my arrest in Virginia.
No court date information has been made public yet.
