David Ermold (pictured above left), a gay man who was denied a same-sex marriage license by infamous Rowan County clerk Kim Davis, has officially announced that he will run against Davis in the next election.
Davis spent five days in jail in September 2015 after refusing a court order to issue marriage licenses following the Supreme Court's decision legalizing same-sex marriage. Davis, the chief clerk of Rowan County, cited "God's authority" and said her stance was motivated by her beliefs as an Apostolic Christian.
Ermold and his partner, David Moore, were filmed being turned away by Davis before a crowd of reporters.
Democrat David Ermold announced his candidacy Wednesday in Morehead.
"My commitment to Rowan County is to restore professional leadership, fairness and responsibility to the clerk's office", Ermold said.
"She's not interested in any other office", Staver said. The case was resolved when her deputy started issuing licenses and the state of Kentucky later created an alternate license that no longer required a county clerk's signature. "I think there's' the potential they want to keep it in the family". She has been in the clerk's office for almost three decades, most of that time working for her mother until she retired.
Staver's organization represented Davis in the resulting lawsuit filed by four couples against her. But everyone should have a fair shot, it should not be something that's handed down from mother to daughter and from daughter to son.
Emron and Moore married in October 2015. She moved to Kentucky two years ago, then specifically moved to Rowan County so she could marry her wife there last year.
Davis has become a darling of the religious right.
"You have to serve all the people, not just the ones you agree with", she said. She said in an email on Wednesday that she helped Ermold with his candidacy paperwork.
"I think we need to deal with the circumstances and the consequences of what happened", Ermold said.
"She does a good job and should be re-elected", he said. Rowan is a conservative county in a conservative state: About 58 percent of its residents voted for Donald Trump in the presidential election.
Davis' new political party could be a problem in Rowan County. He has two master's degrees, one in English and the other in communications, and teaches English at the University of Pikeville. He said he is exhausted of the "divide and conquer" style of politics that has come to dominate most elections, where candidates purposefully take stances to energize some voters while angering everyone else.

In addition to asking for donations, Burckart said the stores also have a bin at the front of the store where toys can be donated. Just drop off any new, unwrapped toys for kids ages 0-14, and in exchange, the restaurant will give you $30 worth of coupons.
Yahoo and Mozilla in the court
Mozilla said that when it informed Verizon of the contract performance issues, it was told to "explore other search providers". On December 5, Mozilla filed a cross-complaint seeking to ensure that our rights under our contract with Yahoo are enforced.
