Vonn I won't represent US President at Winter Olympics

Vonn went on to say she wouldn't accept an invitation to the White House, which is a statement Trump has heard before from players in both the National Football League and NBA. Vonn adds that should she be invited to the White House with the squad or after earning a medal, she will not attend.

"I have to win to be invited [to the White House]".

"I want to represent our country well", Vonn explained. No, actually I think every U.S. team member is invited so no, I won't go.

A knee injury kept Vonn out of the 2014 Games in Sochi.

Olympic skier Lindsey Vonn says she'll be competing for the United States in February's Winter Games in Pyeongchang, but not for Donald Trump.

In an interview with CNN, Vonn was asked what it will be like to compete for the US when Trump is the president.

'I take the Olympics very seriously and what they mean and what they represent, what walking under our flag means in the opening ceremony. No, actually, I think every United States team member is invited, so no, I won't go.

She continued, "I want to represent our country well".

In an era where professional sports, politics and social awareness have become inextricable from each other, many sportspeople have hit back at Trump.

The upcoming Winter Olympics will be her first since Vancouver in 2010 where her appearance made her one of the best paid winter athletes.

Vonn previously visited the White House while Obama was in office.

It's not exactly as though the president has not done something like this before.
