IDF retaliates against Hamas for rocket attacks

Hamas says US Jerusalem embassy move would cross 'every red line'

Furthermore, after two rockets were fired from Gaza this evening, the IDF does not rule out the possibility that the Gaza Strip may join the violence.

The city of Jerusalem is claimed by both Israelis and Palestinians as their capital, though the worldwide community doesn't recognize either of these claims and all foreign embassies to Israel are located in Tel Aviv.

Israeli army forces stationed at watchtowers and tanks on the borders with Gaza fired live rounds at tens of Palestinian youth protesting near the borders.

"The IDF holds Hamas responsible for hostile activity perpetrated against Israel from the Gaza Strip", the IDF said in a statement.

The Hamas leader also called for strong unity among all Palestinian factions, and "for a unified stance to counter this oppression and aggression".

"We demand, call and will launch an intifada in the face of the Zionist occupation", Haniyeh said in a speech Thursday. "It is an unmasked support to occupation, oppression and injustice", Haniyya added, "Jerusalem is ours, there is no West or East; it is the united Arab and Islamic capital of the state of Palestine, a state from the river to the sea".

Protests are expected to continue on Friday.
