Overwatch's Winter Wonderland event returns December 12

Overwatch Winter Wonderland event is back with an exciting game mode

As you'd expect, the Overwatch Winter Wonderland event is back, dropping on December 12th.

Kaplan also hinted at the arrival of a new, "long-awaited" Hanzo skin, previously seen in one of the Overwatch comics.

As usual, the event will offer a number of seasonally appropriate legendary skins, although Blizzard isn't revealing them just yet. In addition, Junkrat and Roadhog are confirmed to be getting new legendary skins for the holiday season, but they're not alone. The Ecopoint: Antarctica map is also in the mix alongside the black Forest arena, along with winterized versions of numerous game's maps to coincide with the event.

The centerpiece of 2017's Winter Wonderland event is a wild new Arcade mode called Mei's Yeti Hunt, which Kaplan said was the result of Blizzard wanting to "try something different and fun". Set on the Nepal map, Mei's Yeti Hunt does still focus on characters shooting each other - but there's a twist. Essentially, it boils down to 5 Mei players taking on resident big lad Winston, who also happens to be player controlled. Winston will be running around the map eating pieces of meat which fuel his Primal Rage. You can once again enjoy the Global Snowball Offensive mode that has a team of Meis throwing balls of fresh powder at one another, but you can now play that mode on the Black Forest map as well. When the game begins, the Meis must attempt to hunt down and eliminate Winston, while he does he best to avoid detection and snaffle up as many meat power-ups as he can. If Winston kills enough Meis, he wins. "And, well, I'm here to tell you it absolutely is".

Speaking of Mei, Blizzard is planning a new event around the snowy scientist. "But the point of some of these seasonal brawls is just to be fun and light and refreshing for a short period of time".
