Arsenal 2-2 Chelsea Five things we learned from another thriller at the Emirates

Wenger said: "What I find awful is that we have just seen a great football game and we talk only about things nothing to do with football".

The best chance early on fell to Morata, who was allowed to run clean through on goal when Calum Chambers and Shkodran Mustafi failed to pick him up and Cech stayed rooted to his line.

Hazard insisted it was a penalty and TV replays backed up his assertion, but his manager Antonio Conte was not happy with his side's efforts on a night when they missed a host of clear cut chances.

A fair but disappointing result for Arsenal and Chelsea.

Chelsea almost hit straight back to snatch all three points but again Morata's shot lacked conviction and Zappacosta's follow up cannoned off the crossbar to the relief of the Arsenal fans who had hardly finished celebrating before the Italian struck the woodwork.

The atmosphere of laughter towards the end of the session was in stark contrast to the prickliness of the beginning. I knew before the game that the last 20 minutes could be hard for us, because we have a big disadvantage with the schedule.

It was the Gunners who broke the deadlock on 62 minutes as Rob Holding's deflected pass fell to the feet of Jack Wilshere, who volleyed into the roof of the net from close range, 1-0.

Arsenal's defense was again inconsistent as the second half began, and Cech had to step in and save a couple Chelsea shots.

And moments after Bellerin scored, the Spaniard was faced with another one-on-one but fired straight at Cech before Zappacosta followed up with a vicious strike that came off the bar. It looked like, mentally, we were shot and we could have lost the game but we had the resources to come back to 2-2.

Marcos Alonso then seemed to have put Chelsea on the way to all three points when he connected with a low cross from Davide Zappacosta with just six minutes left.

In a separate case, the FA have asked Wenger to provide observations on his remarks about the penalty decisions which went against the Gunners in both of their games over the festive period. "I think he is at the level now where not many people expected him to be", Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger was quoted as saying during a news conference.

"Instead we are talking about a draw against a good team, but in this game we deserved to win as we created a lot of chances".
