Monster Hunter World shuns loot boxes and microtransactions for “player harmony”
PC gamers, however, will be waiting until a planned autumn 2018 release.
In two weeks time, console players will get their hands on Monster Hunter: World. "Even in a co-op game where it's not pay-to-win, because we're all on the same team, it's like you didn't earn that or you've got it and don't know how to use it", Tsujimoto added. In the past, the game was only released for consoles and focused heavily on the players' ability to slay monsters with their friend via split-screen. Tsujimoto pointed out that unlike the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One with their respective matchmaking servers, the PC is altogether much different unless the game is exclusively on Steam.
The long stretch that is Monster Hunter World PC version compared to its home console variants is undeniably long. However, the game's producer, Ryozo Tsujimoto insists that, although the learning curve for the first few hours feels somewhat shallower to previous games, subsequent monster encounters will prove as challenging as hardcore followers of the series expect. After which, the developers can fully attend to the needs of PC users, which will assure the best in-game online experience possible.
He also described some of the differences between developing for consoles and PC. Rather than have it taking up resources during the console development and not it not being able to have our full attention on it.
After going hands-on with the recent PS4 beta, Monster Hunter: World aficionados Steven and Austin declared it "exactly the evolution [they] hoped for".
"We want to make sure nobody is under the impression that, because it looks like the kind of game where you might have loot boxes, they definitely aren't in there". Whenever you get over that hurdle by yourself, it's such a great feeling, why would we let you skip that just to make a bit of extra money?
