New Tax Law Brings Big Bonuses for Chrysler Workers

Why the President just said Michigan voters are 'very happy they voted for Trump/Pence'

In addition, FCA said it will give special bonus payments of $2,000 to approximately 60,000 f its hourly and salaried employees.

As a result, the firm's Mexico plant, where the production of such vehicles now occurs, will be repurposed, instead being used to develop and produce future Fiat Chrysler commercial vehicles for global sale.

Fiat Chrysler is making a big investment in its Warren Truck Plant. In one, he wrote, "More great news as a result of historical Tax Cuts and Reform: Fiat Chrysler announces plan to invest more than $1 BILLION in MI plant, relocating their heavy-truck production from Mexico to MI, adding 2,500 new jobs and paying $2,000 bonus to US employees!"

FCA's initial investment in Warren for the Wagoneers was announced in January 2017. FCA said this was on top of a large investment at the Warren factory announced previous year.

The company also noted that it has invested some $10 billion in its USA manufacturing operations since June 2009, with some $3.5 billion alone focused on Jeep and Ram Truck production realignment that included the addition of 3,700 new jobs.

FCA will shift production of trucks from its current plant in Mexico back to a plant near Detroit and will also divvy up bonuses to the company's American workers, in light of the recent tax reform law, The Sun Herald reports. In the process, it will add 2,500 jobs.

The special bonus will be paid to all eligible employees of FCA's automotive and components operations in the U.S.

The plant investment actions announced today are subject to the negotiation and final approval of incentives by state and local entities.

"These announcements reflect our ongoing commitment to our US manufacturing footprint and the dedicated employees who have contributed to FCA's success", said Sergio Marchionne, Chief Executive Officer, FCA in a statement. He says employees should also share in the tax savings.

"It's pretty much Ram country here in Macomb County now", Macomb County Executive Mark Hackel said Thursday night after FCA's Warren truck plant announcement.
