LG Display - an affiliate of LG Electronics - unveiled a sleek prototype of its latest rolling screen technology.
Samsung also worked with McAfee to develop a new security application which is tailored for TV called McAfee Security for TV.
The report goes on to say that some people who visited the "Qlounge" as it has been called, said the new QLED technology was the most impressive thing Samsung has to show in the private area. Dubbed "The Wall", the TV is still in the conceptual stage, however, the company did share quite a few technical details about the panel. By pressing a button, you can lower the screen into a box, where it wraps around a metal cylinder, kind of like a window blind. This means that the TV display can be made smaller if required. The Common Criteria certification is actually aimed at computer security, so it's good to see Samsung being awarded it for their Internet-connected TVs. LG's rollable display answers to consumers' wishes for the TV to disappear when not being used, it said. It's billed as the first consumer modular MicroLED television or, for the layman, "The Screen of the Future".
CNET recommended the two products as the "Gorgeous TVs of CES 2018", while TechRadar gave its Best in Show award to Samsung's The Wall TV. And while LG mentioned support for Alexa just once throughout the presentation, all its examples came from Google's Assistant. The real stuff. We know because we touched it with our own hands and asked the tough questions that you wanted us to.
The Wall is unlike most TVs in that it doesn't need a backlight.
Samsung is able to make Knox effective because it implements a hardware root of trust security architecture which "incorporates security features across the TV platform stack".
So there you have it, next-generation electro-QLED technology has finally arrived and so far its specs indicate something that could blow both current LCD TVs and the best that OLED offers out of the water, if only we can soon start seeing more normal-sized versions of this monster TV on the market.
