Technology brands including Intel and IBM have been quick to jump into the social conversation with a tongue-in-cheek brand approach after a blackout struck the annual Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in Las Vegas.

Even tech giant Intel joined in on the fun.

It is where tech companies unveil products many of us will use for decades, with 4,000 companies showing off everything from karaoke machines to the biggest TVs ever sold. The Consumer Technology Association is right there with you. Those who had been inside during the outage continued to trickle out more than 30 minutes after the lights went out - with one security guard telling NBC News that people were being asked to leave. It added that it was "working hard to resolve this and appreciate your patience". "This is a major buzz kill", one officer said as he strolled through the Central exhibit hall.

Rick Rohmer, a product engineer with electrical-systems specialist Legrand, said the power outage affected only part of a booth for Qi, a consortium of companies that make wireless chargers. In the meantime, feel free to point out all of the applicable metaphors to the current state of the electronics industry.

Thousands of keen analysts, media and buyers were also kept from entering the Convention Centre's North Hall, which connected to the powerless section.

Power has been fully restored. "If our extension cord went over there we'd be out of power". In a hilarious twist, the event lost power for nearly two hours, leading to some areas getting closed.

A preliminary assessment found that moisture from heavy rains on Tuesday had caused a "flashover" in one of the convention center's transformers, it said.

According to CNBC, an isolated power outage shut down the event at the Las Vegas Convention Center.
