NAACP to protest Trump in Atlanta: report
The FBI says drones have been spotted in restricted air space surrounding the Atlanta stadium where college football's title game will be held, despite a temporary ban. But their announced actions were scheduled for later in the day, closer to the time of the president's arrival.
For hours earlier Monday, as light rain fell off and on, there had been no anti-Trump protesters in sight.
The NAACP is calling for a "snowflake protest" against President Trump ahead of the national college football championship game in Georgia this week, telling fans to "wave white towels" to simulate a "blizzard" in response to the Trump presidency.
The organization also planned a "Twitter storm" beginning at 6 p.m. ET and continuing through the end of the game.
Doug Criss of CNN noted the group Refuse Fascism ATL plans on protesting as well, staging a "take a knee against Trump" demonstration outside CNN's headquarters in Atlanta.
Atlanta police set up designated areas for demonstrations and had previously said they wouldn't interfere unless protesters break the law.
Atlanta's branch of th NCAAP asked protestors to wear white and wave white towels when Trump enters Mercedes-Benz Stadium, with the white referencing the "snowflake" name-calling Trump supporters have used toward his opposers. Local, state and federal law enforcement authorities said last week that they've worked for months to develop security plans for the game.
Another group, Refuse Fascism ATL, said that before kick-off, they'll "take a knee against Trump" outside CNN's world headquarters, in solidarity with athletes who have knelt during the U.S. national anthem to protest against racial injustice.
The Rev. Jesse Jackson says the halftime song at the College Football Championship game should be "We Shall Overcome".
