Bungie Announces Some Subtle, But Necessary Changes To Destiny 2
13 January 2018, 03:33 | Cameron Gross
Destiny 2 has some big plans for 2018
Regarding the current Eververse situation, Barrett added: "We recognize that the scales are tipped too far towards Tess at the moment, and Eververse was never meant to be a substitute for end-game content and rewards". They will now feature mods with Raid-specific perks.
The blog post also goes into additional details regarding changes to XP rates, private matches and upcoming plans ahead of the rumoured Gods of Mars expansion.
The biggest change has to be that they're adding more direct purchase options and making adjustments to Bright Engrams to allow players to get the items they want more often.
We are also adding a new Ghost with Raid-specific perks that has a chance to drop from the Leviathan and Eater of Worlds final encounters. Eververse exclusive rewards are being adjusted pretty much across the board so that things don't feel as stingy, and loot like ghosts, sparrows, and other items are going to be obtainable through activities.
The update was closed out by game director Chris Barrett, who promised that Bungie would maintain more of this dialogue in the future. All content and features in these updates will be made available to all Destiny 2 players. This includes forthcoming events such as Crimson Days, in the wake of the criticism of The Dawning.
All of the listed updates and additions are slated for implementation throughout spring 2018, starting in January. In addition to expressing outrage over Bungiealtering experience gains for players without notice, the more dedicated players found that the Eververse-the in-game microtransaction store-featured many items that were otherwise hard to find on your own.
It also sounds like Bungie is taking some extra development time on the game's second paid expansion - which could indicate a delay - after lukewarm response to December's Curse of Osiris.
Game director Christopher Barrett detailed a very specific road map of upcoming features in the blog post, which also highlighted a number of points that touched upon several annoyances that numerous hardcore players had.
Work is underway on a full rework of armor and weapon mods. Since mods are now in Bright Engrams, Bungie are tuning this rework to avoid pay-to-win. As a result, Destiny 2 has been hemorrhaging players. We will continue to update you as we move forward. These are the most important changes right now, and it's good to see they're coming sooner than the rest.
Faction Rallies return next week, and the first rally of 2018 sees players competing for shaders and auto rifles tied to each of the Tower's three factions.
When multi-emote launches, you will be able to choose which emote you have equipped to each of your four emote slots.
We'll be introducing modifiers to add more gameplay variety to the experience.

Third Director Folds On GAMBIT Movie
As usual, the reason for the director's departure apparently comes down to scheduling issues, with the split said to be amicable. Despite these ongoing setbacks, Channing Tatum still remains attached to star in Gambit , whenever the movie actually gets made.
