Fusion GPS Transcript: FBI Had Insider In Trump's Campaign
13 January 2018, 04:03 | Cameron Gross
A USA senator has released a transcript of the testimony to Congress by the founder of the firm that researched Donald Trump's alleged ties to Russian Federation.
Steele, his court filing says, "was engaged by Fusion to prepare a series of confidential memoranda based on the intelligence concerning Russian efforts to influence the USA presidential process and links between Russia and Donald Trump".
President Trump's longtime attorney is suing the research firm that compiled the infamous Russian Federation dossier on President Trump and the news website BuzzFeed, which published it.
Simpson said Fusion began getting questions from the press about whether the FBI was investigating Trump and "we encouraged them to ask the Federal Bureau of Investigation that question".
"The innuendo and misinformation circulating about the transcript are part of a deeply troubling effort to undermine the investigation", she said. "And I don't make an excuse but I've had a bad cold and maybe that slowed down my mental facilities a little bit", she said, according to a tweet from a fellow NBC producer.
Feinstein released the transcript on Tuesday, breaking with Senate decorum to debunk the Republican theory that the dossier is what sparked the investigation of potential links between the Trump campaign and Russian officials.
"The Republicans on that committee didn't consult with her with respect to their referral to the Department of Justice", Murphy said, referring to Grassley and Sen.
Dianne Feinstein "sneaky" in a Twitter attack Wednesday morning and urged Republicans to "take control" of the sprawling investigation into his administration and campaign and potential collusion with Russian Federation.
He said that seems much more likely than the report that a former Trump campaign adviser's drunken boasts - not the dossier - led to the investigation.
Mr Steele - who founded and runs Orbis Business Intelligence in London - is said to have passed on his findings to both U.S. and United Kingdom intelligence in the run-up to the 2016 presidential election.
Cohen said he also filed a second defamation suit against political intelligence firm Fusion GPS, which compiled the dossier.
Feinstein would not say if she thinks Fusion GPS's bank records should be released.
Mr Simpson later said he was not sure if the Federal Bureau of Investigation informant was from the Mr Trump's election campaign or the Trump Organisation, the president's real estate firm, which is now run by his two older sons. And Simpson had already publicly called for the full release of his testimony. The Fusion GPS official interviewed by Congress said so in the transcript released by Feinstein.
"They believed Chris might be credible because they had other intelligence that indicated the same thing", Simpson said.
California Sen. Dianne Feinstein, ranking minority member of the Senate Intelligence Committee released all 312 pages of testimony to the public.
Trump doesn't understand the law or the Constitution, but it would be hilarious to watch Attorney General Jeff Sessions tie himself into knots trying to explain to Trump why what Feinstein did is not a crime.

India woos foreign cos with new norms
Government's decision of allowing 100 % FDI for single brand retail has received criticism from the BJP's ideological mentor RSS. By allowing 49% FDI in Air India, the government will likely get more bidders and hence a better valuation.
