Bryan Fuller Lestat-us Update: He's Working On Anne Rice's Vampire Chronicles Show

Ghost Adventures

Anne and Christopher Rice welcomed Fuller into the creative team / vampire family for The Vampire Chronicles, a Paramount Television and Anonymous Content production.

"American Gods" and "Star Trek Discovery" executive producer Bryan Fuller might have left both shows but he landed a new project to focus on television.

In November of 2016, fans of Anne Rice's Vampire Chronicles series of books were elated to discover that rights to the characters had reverted back to the author who immediately expressed her enthusiasm at turning the series into a TV show. "We bought 11 novels as part of the Vampire Chronicles initiative", she said. According to Rice's Facebook post, the team has been developing the written material for Lestat's tale for a months now, and they hope to share more exciting developments with their fans in the months ahead.

Most famous among Rice's iconic Vampire novels is the series' first, Interview With the Vampire, which was adapted into a blockbuster 1994 film that starred Tom Cruise and Brad Pitt, and earned a then-unknown Kirsten Dunst a Golden Globe nomination for her turn as the pair's once-bitten, adopted vampire daughter. Stuart Townsend also played Lestat in 2002's Queen of the Damned.

Given Fuller's mastery of blending romance with the macabre, he makes the ideal choice to help develop this series. Adapting The Vampire Chronicles for TV has been a longtime dream of Fuller's and now he has gotten his chance to it.

Fuller's involvement with the project was revealed by Amy Powell, president of Paramount Television and Digital Entertainment, in a wide-ranging interview with The Hollywood Reporter. Bryan and I will be together tonight, along with our friend and fellow writer, Eric Shaw Quinn, at the Hollywood premiere of THE ALIENIST, another eagerly anticipated adaptation of a popular novel, and a show that we're sure will demonstrate to all why Paramount and Anonymous are the flawless home for Lestat and all of his fledglings, fellow vampires and rivals. The writer and producer is also attached to the development of "Amazing Stories" with Steven Spielberg for Apple TV, as announced in October.
