The biggest brands are not the only players in voice assistants.

But compared with the Lenovo's intriguing offering, the LG speaker is pretty damn ugly. And radio should take notice that Google is a serious player in this fight, and make sure their radio stations are not only Alexa-enabled, but also Google Home-enabled.

Until now, it seemed like Google was playing catch-up with Amazon.

It's nice to see that these features are spreading out across vehicles and becoming less manufacturer-specific - but it'll also make it more hard to figure out who's on the phone, who's talking to Alexa or Google, and who's just muttering to themselves.

In related news, JBL also announced the LINK View, another smart display device running the Google Assistant out of the box, although we don't have any info about its price either.

But speakers are just the beginning.

The LG Smart Ecosystem has been contributing to the smart home industry in many ways.

Being powered by Google's services, the Lenovo's Smart Display comes with all types of features and it will give you the best of experience of using a digital smart display with advanced technical features. Try doing that with an Echo Show.

Even though a Google spokesperson did not respond to a request for comment, Google vice president of engineering Scott Huffman confirmed the company wants to spread Assistant to mobile devices, home gadgets, and cars to Bloomberg.

Not that Amazon has been sitting still. You can also make use of the Google Assistant to make things working for you without touching the display using different types of voice commands.

You won't find a section dedicated to the Assistant apps in the Google Home app anymore. However, she trusts Google with her E-mail and location, on Google Maps. There, they're split into activities, such as Arts & Lifestyle, Travel & Transportation, Productivity, and Games & Fun. The program pays developers of the most popular Alexa skills for their time, albeit amid complaints that Amazon's method of reward level determination isn't clear.

Amazon didn't have any Fire TV news at CES, but Whitten said the company is continuing to work with TV makers on Fire TV Edition devices, while also incorporating some of the features first introduced on those devices into Fire TV streaming products.

All of this is due to a shift in Google's thinking.

Several automakers, notably including Ford, are taking advantage of Alexa's ability to conduct e-commerce. "It's been important that Alexa has opinions", Whitten said.

"Hey, Google. What's the weather in China next week?" a senior official at LG Electronics asked the company's flat-screen television equipped with Google Assistant.
