"I remember asking, 'Who is this young girl singing with all this emotion and pain.' I still remember the expression on your face when I told you your voice would sing with rock legends; that your voice would change your life and make you royal". I didn't know if I wanted to die, I didn't know what, I just knew I was ready to check out.

"I am feeling like a proud musical father", said Harrell, who founded the label to which Blige signed at 18.

"God gave me the strength to keep stepping and keep my head up, regardless of what anybody thought about me". And we learned how to survive. With a Hollywood star added to her already cemented legacy, Blige's story now lives on forever. Blige's star is the 2,626th star on the Walk of Fame since its completion in 1961. She received best supporting actress Golden Globes and Screen Actors Guild Awards nominations for her portrayal of the wife of a 1940s MS tenant farmer (Rob Morgan) in last year's period drama "Mudbound".

Diddy and Blige obviously have tons of history together, in face he even produced her debut album. "I know my work and I understand what this means". She also received a Golden Globe nomination for best original song for "Mighty River".

Blige won her first Grammy in 1996 for best rap performance by a duo or group for "I'll Be There For You/You're All I Need To Get By", a collaboration with Method Man. "My career was stagnant", Blige said.
