Report: Patriots will be without Rex Burkhead, Mike Gillislee Saturday

Burkhead, who practiced in a limited fashion on Thursday, initially hurt his knee in a December 17 win over the Pittsburgh Steelers and hasn't played since. But that reportedly won't be the case on Saturday.

The Patriots will be without running backs Rex Burkhead and Mike Gillislee when they host the Titans in the divisional round Saturday night.

Gillislee was also a limited participant in practice on Thursday, marking the first time he returned to the field since hurting his knee during the Patriots' Week 16 victory over the Buffalo Bills. Branch and Burkhead both missed games down the stretch and seemed optimistic to play, but apparently need more time. "But when you get good news, it helps you to look forward to these games a little better". Branch played in 12 games this season, including six starts, after being a regular starter the previous two seasons. Dealing with a shoulder issue, Hogan missed seven of the final eight games of the season. The 27-year-old, who practiced in limited fashion Thursday, has rushed for 264 yards and five touchdowns this season.

The absence of Burkhead and Gillislee leaves the Patriots with just White, Dion Lewis and Brandon Bolden in the backfield.
