Spartak Moscow accused of racism after tweeting video of black players with shocking caption: 'See how the chocolate melts in the sun'

Russian club Spartak Moscow condemned over'racist tweet

Fixes spelling of Luiz Adriano's first name.

The Russian side posted the offending tweet (that at the time of writing is somehow still up) as a caption in a video that featured black players training in the sun - and also included chocolate bar emojis just in case their words weren't conveying the message well enough.

A video uploaded to the club's Twitter page that appeared to show Pedro Rocha, Fernando and Luiz Adriano performing stretching exercises in Dubai was captioned: "See how chocolate melts in the sun". Deletes repetition of Russian Federation hosting World Cup detail.

Spartak Moscow have become embroiled in a fresh racism row after posting a tweet about three black players. Spartak earlier said Dzhikiya would take control of its Twitter feed for the day.

Spartak have already been punished by UEFA for racism this season having been fined £33,000 for offences committed by their fans during a Champions League tie against Liverpool in October.

Anti-discrimination group FARE Network was among those to condemn the club, saying it had shown a "shocking level of ignorance". "We are a friendly family".

Liverpool striker Bobby Adekanye was subjected to racist chants and gestures from Spartak supporters in Moscow during a Uefa Youth League game in September, while last month Spartak defender Leonid Mironov was charged with racially abusing Liverpool striker Rhian Brewster. References like this show how some minorities are seen by some in the country.

Spartak fans were also found guilty of abusing Liverpool's Bobby Adekanye during a Youth League fixture in Russian Federation.

Anti-racism group Kick it Out were quick to condemn Spartak's Twitter post, just months before Russian Federation are due to host the 2018 World Cup.
