Donald trump is going to take part in the world economic forum in Davos Switzerland which will be held from 23 to 26 January
Trump will be the first American president to attend the Davos World Economic Forum since former President Bill Clinton.
Mnuchin tells reporters that administration officials attending the gathering of numerous world's most influential leaders will be promoting Trump's "America First" agenda and ways to bring jobs and economic investment to the U.S.
The White House on Thursday announced an unusually large presidential delegation for the trip this month, including seven Cabinet secretaries and several high-ranking West Wing officials, among them Trump's son-in-law Jared Kushner.
The White House announced the president's intent to attend the forum on Tuesday.
The delegation is larger than the one that accompanied Vice President Joe Biden in 2016, a group that included six Cabinet secretaries and drew notice for coming during the Obama administration's lame duck year.
WEF spokeswoman Fon Mathuros said U.S. Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin, Commerce Secretary Wilbur Ross and U.S. Trade Representative Robert Lighthizer are also expected.
The gathering of political leaders and business executives will take place on January 23-26.
A second reporter asked why it was appropriate for Trump to "rub elbows" with "very wealthy" people in Switzerland. "This is about meeting business leaders".
Mnuchin said that Trump would talk about "reciprocal, free, and fair trade" at the summit. "We have obviously been very clear with the Chinese on the issue that we have with the trade deficit, making sure that United States companies can compete fairly".
