Apple News Launches Coverage of 2018 Winter Olympics

Apple partners with NBC on a new Winter Olympics section in Apple News

Apple has partnered with NBC, the network that is covering the Pyeongchang, South Korea Olympics, to bring real-time news updates about the event through its Apple News app.

Apple has added a dedicated News section to its TV app on the Apple TV and iOS devices.

Apple's PyeongChang Olympics coverage is provided by NBC across both iOS devices and Apple TVs.

Although right now live news is in the Watch Now section, it's possible that in the future Apple will add a dedication news category so you can get to it even faster. This section will mainly feature articles, videos and other entries that cover the games that are taking place over the next two weeks.

Apple's deal with NBC is just one of the partnerships that the Cupertino giant is securing at present, so it could become a reliable hub for sports coverage. Snapchat is also working in partnership with NBC.

The news section builds on the live Sports section Apple launched at the end of past year, allowing users to follow their favorite teams in football, basketball and other sports. Clips from events can be watched directly within the Apple News app.

If you're an avid Apple TV user, the tech company has some good news for you. There will be a medal tracker and morning roundups so you can easily catch up with what you've missed overnight. On the other hand, the Olympics has mainstream interest and so putting Winter Olympics into the sports section might have meant that a wider range of users may never see it.
