Liam Miller has passed away aged 36 following a brave battle against pancreatic cancer

Former Sunderland midfielder Liam Miller has passed away at the age of 36, succumbing to cancer.

In the season after Liam gave me one of my most cherished memories as a fan of this club when he scored an unbelievable half-volley right at death away at Middlesbrough when we were 2-1 down.

Celtic tweeted: "Everyone at #CelticFC is deeply saddened to hear of the passing of former midfielder Liam Miller".

Miller's family and friends announced in November that he was suffering from the disease and he that he had had treatment in the United States before flying home to Ireland for chemotherapy.

Miller later had spells with Queens Park Rangers, Hibernian, Perth Glory and Cork City, before retiring in 2016. "Taken too young. Thoughts go out to his family".

Miller joined Celtic's youth system in 1997 and made his professional debut with the club during the 1999-2000 season.
