Baby Born in Tucson Airport Restroom Is Left Behind Along With an Apology

Woman gives birth and leaves note after abandoning infant son in Arizona airport bathroom as authorities ask for public's help in identifying her

A woman believed to have left her newborn baby in an Arizona airport bathroom didn't realize she was pregnant, according to a heartbreaking note she left with the infant.

The Tucson Airport Authority released chilling new information about the incident, as well as video footage showing the unidentified mother walking around the airport with what appears to be the baby.

According to the Tuscon Airport Authority, 'An investigation of video and witnesses indicates it is possible the mother, who has yet to be identified, gave birth to the baby boy sometime around 9pm'. Authorities say she left the airport without her baby boy.

Authorities have now released the heartbreaking note the baby's mother left on top of him when she left the airport.

An airport employee found the child January 14 abandoned in a restroom near the rental vehicle counters. She is unable and unfit to take care of me.

The handwritten note began as if written from the perspective of the baby boy, before the note's author pleaded for the child to be taken care of. It begs whoever finds him to turn him over to authorities so they can find the boy a good home.

She told police she had become concerned after spotting "pools of blood" on the bathroom floor.

Though the airport is not considered a safe haven, law enforcement officials said there are no criminal charges pending against the unknown woman.

"We would like to know who she is but we've exhausted our resources", Butler said.

The Washington Post has reported the baby was found "with a torn umbilical cord" and that medics clamped the cord to prevent bleeding, although the child was otherwise healthy and well.
