Indian PM Modi visits Sultan Qaboos Grand Mosque and Shiva temple
A consortium led by India's Oil and Natural Gas Corp (ONGC) has become the first group to win a stake in Abu Dhabi National Oil Co's (ADNOC) 40-year offshore oil concession, a deal set to help the UAE expand its foothold in Asia.
Apart from his official meetings, Prime Minister also participated in the World Government Summit held in Dubai as Guest of Honor.
Temple Committee members presented the temple literature to Modi, who arrived here tonight, and Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan.
At a gathering of the Indian community at the Dubai Opera House, Modi said, "I want to thank His Highness Crown Price on behalf of 125 crore Indians for the grand temple which will be constructed". As per details by Gulf News, the first-ever Hindu temple planned for Abu Dhabi will come up in a 14-acre land by 2020 with seven towers representing the seven emirates in the UAE, officials have disclosed.
It is Prime Minister Narendra Modi's unique style that endears him to people of Indian origin living overseas.
Prime Minister also formally laid foundation of first Hindu temple in UAE through teleconferencing.
"We have not and will not reject negotiations ever and we have said and we still say that we are ready to engage in negotiations, the formation of a multi-lateral mechanism that is produced by an global peace convention is the most ideal way to broker such negotiations", the 82-year-old Palestinian leader said. Speaking on the occasion, Mr Modi said, the temple is a unique symbol of religious tolerance and the Indian principle of Vasudhaiv Kutumbkam- one world one family. "Scientific advances have made these possible" PM Modi said at the World Government Summit. "We will have to be alert & use technology as a means to development & not destruction", Modi added.
New Delhi already sponsors several development projects in Palestinian territories, and Modi said Saturday the $40 million would go for media equipment, schools and a hospital. In Mumbai on Wednesday, Abu Dhabi Week will get underway to encourage Indian investment in this country.
"Russia and Putin will have an important role in this matter, including launching an worldwide peace conference and several important issues that require consultation with all relevant parties until we achieve the interest of the Palestinian people", said Khalidi.
