He is the second administration official to resign this week over domestic abuse allegations, after top White House staffer Rob Porter resigned on Wednesday.
The senators also question whether Porter, who served as Trump's staff secretary, disclosed the allegations on his applications for a security clearance or White House employment.
"We absolutely wish him well, he did a very good job when he was at the White House", Trump said. "There is no recovery for someone falsely accused - life and career are gone", Trump tweeted.
President Donald Trump appeared to be coming to the defense of men accused of domestic abuse or other sexual misconduct, asking in a Saturday morning Twitter post, "Is there no such thing any longer as Due Process?"
Porter's two ex-wives claimed in an interview with CNN's MJ Lee that they experienced years of abuse from Porter, including incidents of physical violence, and said they detailed the allegations to the Federal Bureau of Investigation as the agency conducted a routine background check into Porter.
Trump's tweets come hours after David Sorensen, a speechwriter in his administration, resigned amid speculation of domestic abuse on Friday night. Porter denied the allegations when he resigned from his position on Wednesday and said the two women were involved in a "smear campaign" against him. "Have they not been "shattered and destroyed"?" Trump has also denied the allegations.
She blasted Trump for not vetting Porter and chief of staff John Kelly for not acting when he learned of the charges against Porter. "And now, all of a sudden, they're saying these terrible things about him", Trump said.
Porter, whose title was staff secretary, controlled material coming to the president and was frequently at Trump's side.
Conway during the ABC News interview also defended the president's treatment of women in the White House.
CNN reported Wednesday that Kelly was aware in the fall of a year ago that Porter was having trouble obtaining his security clearance and that his ex-wives claimed he had abused them.
According to police report, Bannon's ex-wife said he injured her neck and wrist during a fight over money and smashed her phone when she tried to call police.
"The President's tweet once again shows that he's unwilling to stand up for victims and instead more than willing to stand up for abusers", Kelly said Saturday.
Martin said victims of domestic violence and abuse often hesitate to come forward or to leave their relationships, no matter how toxic, because they worry nobody will believe their accounts, particularly when the balance of power between the abuser and the victim is uneven. In that time, Porter's stock in the White House continued to rise.
Democrats wrote the memo as a rebuttal to the Republicans' four-page memo accusing the FBI and Justice Department of spying on a former Trump campaign aide in its investigation of Russian meddling in the 2016 election.
