Los Gatos police arrested 49ers linebacker Reuben Foster on Sunday and charged him with domestic violence and suspicion of possessing an assault rifle.

Foster posted a $75,000 bail and was in the process of leaving Santa Clara County Jail on Sunday night, ninersnation.com reported. He was arrested in Tuscaloosa in January for possession of marijuana. The Niners have issued a statement saying they are aware of the report and they are still gathering all pertinent information. He made 72 total tackles in 2017, the second-highest total on the team. At the Combine a year ago, Foster failed his drug test after submitting a diluted sample, and was then kicked out of the Combine after allegedly mistreating a hospital worker during his medical checks.

San Francisco tabbed Foster with the 31st pick, and he produced as a rookie.

We'll update you on the latest with Foster's situation. Should they cut Foster? A source said that the arrest was related to domestic violence, but there are few specifics at this point. Upon taking over the 49ers, Lynch and head coach Kyle Shanahan stressed the importance of character in the team's locker room. We all know how special of a player he can be when he's right. "Everybody who's in this from the top to the bottom will be going in one direction".
