Jocelyn Morffi has been a first grade teacher for the past seven years at Sts.

A beloved Miami Catholic school teacher who recently married her partner, was sacked mere days later, angering parents.

Photos of the couple's Floridian beach wedding were posted on Facebook along with a video of their first dance.

Jocelyn Morffi wedding Natasha Hass prior this month, and as per the Miami Herald, she came back to her activity last Wednesday.

Florida does not have a statewide law prohibiting discrimination on the basis of sexual orientation.

According to a report in the Miami Herald, Morfii, after being let go, said in a statement: "This weekend I married the love of my life and unfortunately I was terminated from my job as a result".

In an Instagram post, Morffi stated, "In their eyes I'm not the correct sort of Catholic for my decision in partner".

Morales sent a note home to parents on Thursday, describing the decision as 'difficult and necessary'.

Several parents said after meeting with the school administration, they still don't have a satisfactory explanation for why Morffi was sacked.

They said that she was not even given the chance to collect her personal belongings from her classroom.

The protesting parents praised Morffi as a great teacher and said they didn't care about her sexual orientation.

She wouldn't give any further explanation other than Morffi breakng her contract. "She married her love who she wants to spend the rest of her life with, It should have nothing to do with her teaching skills".

A lesbian school teacher has lost her job only one day after she married her girlfriend.

'One has to understand that in any corporation, institution or organization there are policies and procedures and teachings and traditions that are adhered to.

"It's ridiculous. It's 2018", said parent Christina Lopez. "If something along the way does not continue to stay within that contract, then we have no other choice", Agosta said. One parent even considered withdrawing her child from the school in light of recent developments, the Miami Herald reported. Archdiocese of Miami spokeswoman Mary Ross Agosta confirmed that Morffi had been fired, but would not elaborate on the reasons except to say that the teacher had broken her contract.

Morffi's attorney told WPLG they are considering the next legal steps they can take. In her social media post, Morffi said the volunteer program would continue.

The teacher added that she now also has to try and find a new venue for Teach Hope - her movement that feeds the homeless, which she had operated with help from the school.
