Searches in the area revealed that the militants, carrying backpacks and AK-47 rifles, had taken shelter in a building near the CRPF camp, which was then surrounded. At around 4:55 AM in five suspected JeM militants barged inside the Army camp and opened fire.

According to a senior police official, the CRPF jawan was wounded in the shootout as the security forces prepared for a final assault against the holed-up terrorists.

Earlier, CRPF has claimed to have repulsed the attack, however sources said that the militants had reportedly managed to sneak inside a building adjacent to the CRPF camp of 23 bn at Karanagar. Loud gunshots can be heard intermittently, as security forces engage with two terrorists hiding in a building, close to the hospital.




Merely two days after an attack on the Indian Army soldiers at Sunjuwan camp, terrorists on Monday targeted CRPF camp in Jammu and Kashmir's Srinagar. As of now, the combing operations underway at the Sunjwan Army Camp. The chief of the Indian Army, General Bipin Rawat, was in Jammu yesterday, to review the operations that lasted for almost 30 hours. "Fortunately 2 terrorists are in cordon & exchange of fire going on".

As per last reports coming in the incident, security forces had located and cornered the two militants, and were exchanging fire with them.
