Considering how sloppy Arsenal's defence was, Tottenham would be more than disappointed with the result.

Spurs continued to dominate and were rewarded in the 49th minute when Kane's thumping header - off Ben Davies' delicious cross - left Cech helpless.

Arsenal could be without Petr Cech for the match.

Mkhitaryan was allowed to move to Arsenal as part of the Sanchez deal.

"And it is how they now handle that next summer and so for Pochettino and Tottenham, this season might be the season where they need to get that trophy - maybe they get that chance in the Champions League - as it is just hard to sustain that". It was the Tottenham striker's seventh goal in seven league games against the club who rejected him as a youngster. "He is a super striker, one of the best in the world who scores against everyone", Wenger claimed. His ensuing shot had the same trajectory of SpaceX's Falcon Heavy rocket on Tuesday.

Alexandre Lacazette almost nicked a point in the dying moments but couldn't get his effort on target after finding space.

The game ended 1-0 for the home side as the Gunners continue to suffer from their inconsistent form. There was smoke in the air when Harry Kane scored the opener which was all dissolved by Wenger after the game.

Tottenham has now won five straight at Wembley, their home venue as the club rebuilds White Hart Lane.

Arsenal head to Wembley to face Spurs having not beaten their rivals in the Premier League at White Hart Lane since 2014.

The North London derby win was just what Mauricio Pochettino's side needed as it pushes on for a top-four finish.

Spurs are third with 52 points, one ahead of Liverpool who play struggling Southampton on Sunday, February 11.

Arsene Wenger continually tells us that Arsenal is an attacking team and never set out to try and get a draw, but from the beginning of yesterday's defeat at Wembley it looked like we were happy to sit back and hope for a quick breakaway.

With both back-lines forcing ideal pressure, the only two chances for Spurs came from a Shkodran Mustafi clearance that forced a Peter Cech save and a pinpoint cross from Christian Eriksen that connected with a Kane header yet went above the crossbar.

It wasn't all good news for Spurs this afternoon with Dele Alli once again failing to make a meaningful impact. In the 57th minute, Cech made a hard save on a free kick from Christian Eriksen.

Arsenal nearly snatched a point at the death, but substitute Alexandre Lacazette fired wide, and in truth, the margin of victory should have been greater, as Spurs wasted several chances to double their advantage in front of a crowd of 83,222.

In front of a record Premiership crowd at the national stadium, Spurs will reflect on a solid win but wonder how they did not enjoy a more comfortable margin victory.

However, thanks to Lacazette doing his best Alvaro Morata impression, neither team found another goal. We have had three massive games against United, Liverpool and Arsenal and seven points is good.
