It has been confirmed that the latest open beta program will bring in Android 8.1 Oreo update for the OnePlus 5 and 5t devices.
The number of Android flagships running Oreo at all is already slim, but those using Android 8.1 are even fewer.
The update is now available for OnePlus 5T beta users only.
The new Beta update is packed up with whole new exciting features that includes new gestures. While nothing major has been announced in this update beyond the actual software version, users will nonetheless welcome the quick and regular software updates issued by OnePlus.
Currently, the OnePlus 5T is the flagship smartphone from the China-based company, which was launched in November past year. Note that the update will only be available to you through an OTA push if you're already on the Open Beta program on your device.
In addition, the software update also comes along several system upgrades like - new clock styles for ambient display, optimized full-screen gesture support and Android security patch to 2018-02 update. All other devices that do not run the beta software are now on Android 8.0 Oreo. It adds new optimisations in gaming mode as well for a more immersive gaming experience, along with power-saving and pausing adaptive brightness when a user is in this mode. The update also brings a slew of new features. It also comes with OnePlus Switch feature to allow users to migrate application data, which will ensure customers can seamlessly switch between device. In case you are facing major bugs, you can give the feedback on the OnePlus feedback forums. When users operated this newly introduced beta version they were surprised to see a much-improved version of Fruit Phone X-like gesture navigation in their OnePlus smartphones. For instance, the new update enable users to answer incoming calls, just by raising the phone.
With the update in its fourth beta, we can expect the stable version to be out soon.
