The hip-hop star initially rose to fame in 1994 with the hit single "Flava In Ya Ear", and was the first artist to release an album on P Diddy's Bad Boy Records.

DJ Scratch reported the sad news in an Instagram post this week.

Following Mack's death, the rapper Erick Sermon tweeted: "I'm devastated. we just finishing up his new album". "I can not believe this dude is gone", said Scratch on Instagram.

"Craig was my roadie on tour". He would set up & break down my turntables every night on tour.

Mack had been part of Puff Daddy's Bad Boy Entertainment in the 1990s, with a remix of his single Flava in Ya Ear becoming the breakout appearance of The Notorious B.I.G. Mack grew up in Brentwood, Long Island, and recorded his earliest work as MC EZ. "Rest In Peace Lil Bro".

Easy Mo Bee, who produced "Flava in Ya Ear" and numerous songs on Funk Da World, also shared a story about trying to get Mack back into hip-hop and the rapper's ties to Christianity.

Our thoughts are with Craig's loved ones during this time.

Fellow musicians such as Evidence, Boi-1da, Pharoahe Monch, Termanology, Roc Marciano, Joe Budden, and R.A. the Rugged Man have paid tribute on Twitter.

Speaking of the two on MTV Raps (via the Daily News), he said, "This is my life here".
